Ghost of Tsushima: Sucker Punch Partners with Official Tsushima Tourism Board

Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions, PS4
In a report from IGN, The Nagasaki Prefecture and Tsushima Island tourism association have partnered with Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch Productions. This news comes after the PlayStation 4 exclusive launched last Friday.
“In Ghost of Tsushima, the world of the game takes inspiration from the actual island of Tsushima and is therefore not a blueprint of the locale but rather portrays elements taken from reality,” says a statement on the Tsushima City x Ghost of Tsushima website. “The ambitious challenge in store for us was how much of this realistic setting should be incorporated into the game, and what kind of story we want to tell.”

From historical background on the Mongol invasion to a look at landmarks that appear in the game, the official website gives viewers more context on the history of Tsushima island. Additionally, a section at the bottom of the website shows off some food that can be eaten on the island. One interesting fact that’s prevalent in the game is 89% of the island is covered in forests and mountains.
Ghost of Tsushima released last Friday with an 83 on Metacritic. While we don’t know the game’s sale numbers in America, the game has outsold Paper Mario: The Origami King in the UK so far. Among the many great things about the game is its photo mode, which DualShockers’ own Ryan Meitzler wrote about and how it was made for this mode. Additionally, we recently learned about Prophecy, a canceled project Sucker Punch Productions was working on before developing Ghost of Tsushima. It would’ve been a third-person stealth game set during the Industrial Revolution where you play as a wanted criminal. The idea sounds interesting but Sucker Punch ultimately made the right decision with developing Ghost instead.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now, exclusively on PlayStation 4. The game is available to purchase on Amazon. You can watch the game’s official launch trailer below.
